Project planning

The project required detailed planning due to the proximity to the coastline and fluctuating groundwater levels. Dewatering systems were strategically positioned to control water inflow.

Problem solving

Managing groundwater was a key challenge throughout the project. Dewatering pumps were installed and repositioned as excavation progressed to maintain dry working conditions.

Documentation

Required SWMS, dig permits and safety documentation were completed and communicated to the work crew.

Sustainability

Dewatering discharge was managed responsibly to prevent erosion or environmental impact to surrounding areas.

Challenges

Groundwater & Tidal Influence

Dewatering equipment was positioned strategically to manage inflows and maintain safe trench conditions.

Dewatering Equipment Placement

Pumps, suction lines and discharge systems had to be positioned effectively to ensure continuous operation.

Deep Excavation Stability

Deep sewer installation required careful excavation techniques in sandy soils to prevent trench collapse.

Adverse Weather Conditions

Close coordination between operators, supervisors and ground crews.
